ANDREA ABELLO is a Colombian American actor, singer, and poet based in New York City. She speaks Spanish, English, and French fluently.
Andrea graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Drama and minors in French & Applied Theatre. During her time at NYU, Andrea trained at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Stonestreet Film/TV Studio, and spent a semester abroad in Paris.
She just finished the 9-month acting apprenticeship (The Professional Training Company) at Actor's Theatre of Louisville, where she had the pleasure of working with leading American Theatre innovators: Les Waters, Dave Malloy, Anne Washburn, Meredith McDonough, Lila Neugebauer, Isaac Gomez, and many others. At Actors, she wrote/performed a one-woman show titled AFTERSCHOOL SPECIAL about coming to terms with her Latinx identity, growing up in white suburbia. She was also cast in three shows in the MainStage 2017-18 season, gaining her her Equity Card (Dracula, A Christmas Carol, Little Bunny Foo Foo), and performed in the world-premiere of YOU ACROSS FROM ME in the 42nd Annual Humana Festival directed by Jess Fisch.
When she's not on stage, you can find her doing one of many other things: serving as a teaching artist with ASTEP (Artists Striving End Poverty https://www.astep.org/) and other arts outreach organizations, drinking copious amounts of black coffee, jamming out to one of the two Knowles sisters, or performing her slam poetry. Apart from this, Andrea's other great passion is for traveling. Check out the Travel Tab for photos of her adventures abroad.
